The inspiration behind the Nano Airy curling iron stemmed from the desire to create a product that would cater to the needs of hardworking women who have limited time for hair care. Yoshikawa wanted to design a product that was not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. The result is a curling iron that is as beautiful as it is practical, with a soft, warm, and pure matte white color scheme accented with precious pink metal.
What sets the Nano Airy curling iron apart from other products on the market is its innovative negative ion technology. This, combined with a nano-ceramic coating, allows the device to gently and quickly model individual hair strands at a maximum operating temperature of 180 degrees Celsius, creating a smooth curl structure. The design of the Nano Airy is defined by soft flowing lines that lend the device a feminine character and ensure it fits comfortably in the hand.
The realization of the Nano Airy curling iron involved a meticulous process of design and verification. Yoshikawa began with handwritten designs, which were then digitally expressed and examined. A mockup was created based on the design data, and the final product was made using heat-resistant resin that can withstand high temperatures of 200 degrees Celsius. The design data and samples were then given to the production factory for mass production.
The Nano Airy curling iron is not just a product, but a testament to the power of research and design. Yoshikawa studied hundreds of curling irons and visited multiple countries to understand the design characteristics required by women. The main research themes were design, material, painting, and function. The result of this extensive research is a product that is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing and comfortable to use.
The Nano Airy curling iron has been recognized for its innovative design and functionality, winning the Golden A' Beauty, Personal Care and Cosmetic Products Design Award in 2019. This prestigious award is granted to outstanding creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
